Peter Weir, regista australiano, ha ricevuto il prestigioso Leone d'oro alla carriera per la sua lunga e brillante carriera nel mondo del cinema. Iniziata nel 1971 con il suo primo lungometraggio 'Homesdale', Weir ha conquistato il pubblico internazionale con capolavori come 'Picnic ad Hanging Rock' e 'Gli anni spezzati', interpretato da Mel Gibson. Nel 1985 ha debuttato ad Hollywood con 'Witness - Il testimone', ottenendo una nomination all'Oscar per la regia e vincendo per la migliore sceneggiatura originale e il montaggio. Il suo successo è proseguito con film iconici come 'L'attimo fuggente' e 'The Truman Show', che hanno affrontato tematiche profonde e attuali.
