Un cittadino kosovaro, Liridon Rexhepi, è stato arrestato dalla polizia di Istanbul per essere il presunto responsabile della rete finanziaria del Mossad. Secondo fonti della sicurezza turca, Rexhepi trasferiva denaro agli agenti del Mossad in Turchia, che utilizzavano droni per filmare obiettivi, condurre operazioni psicologiche contro politici palestinesi e raccogliere informazioni sulla Siria. Scoperto dall'agenzia Mit per irregolarità nei suoi conti finanziari, Rexhepi effettuava depositi tramite Western Union. Arrestato il 30 agosto a Istanbul, è il primo agente di alto profilo del Mossad catturato in Turchia quest'anno. Gli agenti trasferivano denaro in Siria pagando con criptovalute. Le autorità turche hanno arrestato più di dieci sospetti per presunti legami con i servizi segreti israeliani, accusati di spionaggio politico o militare a favore del Mossad.
