Un mese fa, un meteorite è caduto nella provincia sudafricana del Capo Orientale, lasciando dietro di sé un frammento grande come una moto. Gli abitanti della zona hanno assistito a una spettacolare luce nel cielo, seguita da un'esplosione e scosse nel terreno. Il frammento, chiamato 'Nqweba Meteorite', è stato trovato nella città omonima. Scienziati dell'Università del Witwatersrand hanno spiegato che l'attrito con l'atmosfera ha causato la frantumazione in volo, generando un boom sonico. Il meteorite è stato identificato come un tipo raro del gruppo HED. Una bambina di nove anni, Eli-zé du Toit, ha raccontato di aver visto cadere dal cielo una roccia nera e lucida all'esterno, con un interno grigio chiaro simile al cemento, che ha consegnato agli scienziati.
